CITY OF IPSWICH
NATIONAL VETERAN TOUR
12-19 September, 2012

IPSWICH, QUEENSLAND

The historic City of Ipswich has been chosen as the hub for the 2012 National Veteran Tour, to be hosted by the VCCA(Q).  Located just to the west of Brisbane and once a strong contender to be Queensland's capital, Ipswich offers a wonderful diversity of experiences for visitors.

The district's terrain and roads are ideally suited to the veteran motorist and motorcyclist - plenty of great scenery, mostly gentle undulating roads and not too much traffic!

The weather in September is - statistically, at least - ideal.  To see what we mean, click here.  The stats are for Amberley, the RAAF base just up the road.

Cr. Paul Pisasale is the Mayor of Ipswich and he's keen to welcome you in 2012.  But if you click on his picture you can meet him now.

You can download TOUR FLYERS, EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST and of course our periodic TOUR BULLETINS
(you'll need Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer for this to work).

Why the locomotive when we're a car club?   Much of the history of Ipswich is intertwined with railways and the Railway Workshops at North Ipswich.  A visit to what is now the fabulous Workshops Museum will be part of our event.

SOMETHING HAS CHANGED.  Since we announced the Tour in 2010 much of Ipswich and the surrounding district was devastated by the catastrophic Queensland floods of January 2011.  By the time of our Tour the landscape will no doubt have recovered, but for the people there'll still be a long way to go.

The VCCA(Q) is determined to augment the financial recovery aspect by maximising entry numbers.  In addition, we want to leave the people of Ipswich with happy memories of our visit and something tangible, too.  The Tour Committee is now considering how best this can be achieved.

It's clear that to do our bit for Ipswich we need as many entrants as possible.  So please, enter your car or bike, and if you have more than one mobile veteran why not get friends to bring along the "surplus" wheels?  If you're overseas or your project isn't going to be finished, why not ask us about coming along as a Swaggie, hitching rides in other folks' cars?  WE NEED YOU and we'll make you welcome!
