A Little History…
The first event for veteran cars in Queensland was the Kalbar to Boonah Run held on December 4th, 1954.

In the spirit of the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, the Wintergarden Theatre - while showing the film "Genevieve" - sponsored the staging of the first Brisbane to Brighton run on February 20th, 1955.

A second run took place on 27th May, 1956, this time sponsored by H G Sleigh (better known as Golden Fleece Petrol).  At a meeting of those taking part it was agreed that those who so desired would become the Foundation Members of the Veteran Car Club of Queensland. The first General Meeting was held on the 25th June 1957 with an attendance of 26 foundation members.

In 1962 the club changed its name to the Veteran Car Club of Australia (Qld.) after affiliating with the National body.

Meetings
Meetings are held on the first Monday of every month, with the exception that there is no meeting in January.  Our Clubrooms are located 1376 Old Cleveland Road, Carindale, on the north-western corner of the intersection of Old Cleveland Rd and the Gateway Arterial road.  Access is via the service road just west of the intersection. It can be a bit tricky, so check the map!

Events
The Club organizes a wide variety of motoring and related events for members, their families and friends.
Check our Calendar.
What Year Is She, Mate?
A very common question, indeed, and usually not enquiring about your wife!  The sheer age of our cars and the lack of readily available information means that determining the age of a vehicle is sometimes an extremely complex business.  The Club's Dating Officer assists members to establish or confirm the age of their cars and issues formal Dating Certificates, which are mandatory for concessional registration purposes in Queensland.
Library
The Library is open on each meeting night.  Books and other publications are available for loan to club members.

Newsletter
Our Veteran Torque newsletter is published each month, except January, to reach members prior to the General Meeting. The newsletter contains notices of coming events, reports on past events, restoration hints, technical information and contributions from members and classified advertisements.

Meetings commence at 8pm and visitors are always welcome.  Our pre-meeting BYO barbecue is always enjoyable.  And from time to time one of our members' cars is on display - inside the Clubrooms - at the meeting.  In March 2011 it was Ross & Rhonda Guthrie's 1905 de Dion Bouton with that zippy paint job!
